About Me.
Georgina Southam MIRV, FGA, DGA, BA(Hons)
I have worked in the jewellery industry for over 15 years, working for a renowned and historic auctioneers and valuation company before setting up my own independent valuation services, serving The West Midlands and further afield.
I studied Jewellery Design and Silversmithing at the internationally distinguished Birmingham Jewellery School, the largest jewellery school in Europe.
Following this I obtained my Diamond diploma of the Gemmological Association, and Fellow of the Gemmological Association certifications, and went on to achieve my IRV Independent Registered Valuers status, passing with 96%.
In 2009 I was awarded the Doug Morgan Gemmological Trophy for achieving the highest FGA mark in the Midlands Region, and dedicated my spare time towards the Gem-A Midlands branch, where I was appointed chairman in 2013, and have been recognised by the Academy of Valuers for my hard work and dedication to the trade.
I love all things Gemmology related, especially learning the history behind a piece of jewellery, particularly heirloom pieces passed down generations.
